Vacuum Seal Machine

People who own a vacuum seal machine may sometimes experience problems with their unit. Most of the time they can fix the problem on their own with just a few minor adjustments to make. Mainly, with this type of kitchen equipment, they usually only have 3 general parts. Hence, it is easier to identify which may part or section of the equipment is malfunctioning. Once the problem area is identified, proper troubleshooting may soon follow.

Not Enough Suction Power

Fortunately, in most cases where vacuum sealers are having suction problems can be attributed to the number of bags that are being placed within the machine’s sealing chamber, which excludes the unit’s motor itself. Placing too many bags or rolls in the sealing chamber runs the risk of the machine not having adequate suction power. The excessive amount of plastic is covering the suction pipe, regardless if it is just part or all of it.

Sealing chambers usually have a colored line on their inside. The purpose of which is to be your guide, so that the bag size you will use on it will exceed or extend past that line. While it may look like it is counter-intuitive, having less bag extension often translates to having a better seal.

In case that you are just using less bag already and noticed that the suction your machine is giving is still not satisfactory compared to its usual, try to verify that there are not food debris, grime, or dirt build-up between the device itself and the lid.

Pay Attention to the Roll or Bags

If you are under the impression that your vacuum sealer is working to its expected performance or if you think that success is somewhat spotty, verify first that there are no pinpoint holes in either the sealing bags or the plastic roll. Even if it is just a single, small, tiny hole that escaped your prying eyes, that hole is more than enough to cause your unit to try and create a vacuum on one side, while at the other end of it air is seeping into the bag.

Improper Sealing

Most of the time, this issue would give us an impression that the motor itself is at fault or not properly working, but upon closer look at things, it does have something to do with the bag itself and its contents. The natural tendency of food items when they are pressure sealed is that their water, juices, or oil that they come with will seep through the outer sealed portion  With this happening, it can lead to numerous small leakages and holes.

You can prevent such from happening by just being very careful when trying to put food items inside your place bag so as to keep spills from happening. In addition, you may want to use paper towel so you can blot out any excess moisture or liquid out of the food item prior to sealing.

Don’t Overfill Your Vacuum Seal Machine

It is important to allow at least an inch of free space between your food item and the edge of the bag. This way you are going to give the sides an adequate contact for them to seal properly.  Additionally, this will also help in preventing any liquid runoff or any food debris from blocking sealing.

There are many ways that a vacuum seal machine will be able to prove its worth and value. Aside from domestic use, it creates a more invaluable contribution to its various commercial applications, too. Therefore, it makes sense that you know exactly how to identify and how to address some minor issues about it when they come.
